Phase 1 Reopening
CPC Family,
In 1675, Samuel Rodigast wrote the hymn, “Whate'er My God Ordains is Right” and we would do well to remember that truth as we continue to deal with the effects of Covid-19. The past two and a half months have been challenging and the challenges will continue and yet, we are at a time and place where we can once again gather in person for corporate worship. The Session has been closely monitoring the situation and listening to the recommendations from our federal, state, and local governments. We believe that we can begin to implement our Phase 1 re-opening this coming Sunday, May 31. Although we are opening the church facility for corporate worship, there will be several restrictions in place. Below, I have listed the Phase 1 guidelines for those who choose to attend in-person worship.
Those who feel ill, are immunocompromised, or have underlying health conditions should continue to participate in worship via the livestream.
We suggest that those who are 65 and older also continue to participate in worship via the livestream.
We suggest that those who attend in-person worship wear a mask.
Please maintain social distance (6 feet) while in the building.
Attendees must sit in designated areas (designated areas are the sections of pews with cushions on the seat).
The building is closed except for the sanctuary and restrooms. Please do not enter a restricted area because we must clean and sanitize every area that people enter.
We encourage fellowship outside. Please do not congregate in open areas of the sanctuary or fellowship hall.
Nursery, childcare, and Kids Connection remain suspended until a later phase.
We will continue to structure the worship service in a simple and streamlined fashion for the benefit of those who worship via the livestream. This means that we will continue to refrain from:
Passing the Peace
Passing attendance pads
Passing the offering plates
Passing communion trays
All shared resources have been removed from the sanctuary, including: Bibles, hymnals, attendance pads, tissue boxes, prayer cards, and giving envelopes.
Our prayer and expectation is that the virus will continue to decrease and we will be able to reinstitute many of our common practices in Phase 2. We have no specific timeframe for when we will move into Phase 2 but it will likely be later in the summer.
Thank you for demonstrating love for your neighbor by adhering to the guidelines and we look forward to gathering again this coming Sunday.
With love and grace,
Jeremy
